About TheCyberPicks

TheCyberPicks is an independent cybersecurity review site. We test VPNs, antivirus software, and password managers with our own hands, on our own devices, and share what we find — no sugar-coating, no pay-to-play rankings.

Every recommendation on this site is backed by real testing. If a product doesn’t hold up, we say so — even when there’s an affiliate commission on the line.

Why This Site Exists

Most people don’t have a background in cybersecurity. They search for “best VPN” or “do I need antivirus” and get hit with dozens of sites that all seem to rank the same products in the same order — often because commissions drive the ranking, not testing.

TheCyberPicks exists to fix that. We started this site because we believe everyone deserves straightforward, honest answers about the tools that protect their digital life. No jargon walls. No hidden agendas. Just clear recommendations from someone who actually uses these products daily.

What We Cover

  • VPNs — We test speed, privacy policies, streaming access, server networks, and apps across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
  • Antivirus software — We evaluate malware detection, system performance impact, real-time protection, and value for money.
  • Password managers — We assess security architecture, cross-platform sync, ease of use, and breach monitoring features.

We also publish guides that explain cybersecurity concepts in plain English — because understanding the “why” matters as much as picking the right tool.

Our Editorial Standards

Every piece of content on TheCyberPicks follows our published Editorial Guidelines. Here’s the short version:

  • Hands-on testing required. We don’t review products we haven’t personally used. Period.
  • No pay-for-placement. Companies cannot pay for a higher rating or a spot on our “best of” lists.
  • Transparent conflicts of interest. We disclose affiliate relationships on every page where we earn commissions.
  • Regular updates. Reviews are refreshed at least every six months. Pricing, features, and test data are kept current.
  • Corrections policy. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction publicly.

For the full version, read our Editorial Guidelines and How We Test page.

How We Make Money

Transparency matters, so here’s exactly how TheCyberPicks generates revenue:

Affiliate commissions. When you click a link on our site and purchase a product, we may earn a commission from the provider at no extra cost to you. These links are always clearly marked, and every page with affiliate links includes a visible disclosure.

What we don’t do:

  • We don’t accept payment for reviews or rankings.
  • We don’t run sponsored content disguised as editorial.
  • We don’t let commission rates influence our ratings or recommendations.
  • We don’t sell your personal data.

Our affiliate relationships keep this site free for you to use. But our recommendations are always based on testing — never on who pays the most. You can read the full details on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Meet the Team

Amine Megh — Cybersecurity Writer & Editor

Amine is the founder and lead reviewer at TheCyberPicks. He has spent years researching VPNs, antivirus tools, and online privacy — not as an academic exercise, but because he believes digital security shouldn’t require a computer science degree to understand.

His approach: test everything personally, explain findings clearly, and never recommend a product he wouldn’t use himself. He tests every VPN and security tool across multiple devices and real-world scenarios before publishing a single word.
