About
I’m Amine, the person behind TheCyberPicks. I started this site because I got tired of searching for “best VPN” and finding rankings that seemed more correlated with commission rates than actual product quality.
I’ve spent years researching and using cybersecurity tools — VPNs, antivirus software, password managers, encrypted messengers — not as an industry insider, but as someone who genuinely cares about digital privacy for everyday people. The people who shouldn’t need a computer science degree to protect themselves online.
Every review I publish is based on hands-on testing. I install the product, use it for at least a week across multiple devices, run structured speed and security tests, read the full privacy policy (yes, the whole thing), and only then write about what I found. If a product doesn’t hold up, I say so — even when there’s money on the table.
What I Focus On
- VPN reviews and comparisons — speed testing, privacy policy analysis, streaming access, real-world usability
- Online privacy — how to protect your data from ISPs, advertisers, and surveillance without becoming a hermit
- Antivirus and endpoint security — malware protection that works without destroying your system performance
- Password security — practical password management for people who don’t want to memorize 200 unique passwords
- Digital security guides — explaining complex topics in plain language for non-technical readers
My Testing Approach
I believe the only honest way to review a security product is to use it yourself, on your own devices, with your own internet connection. Rewriting spec sheets isn’t a review — it’s marketing.
My standard testing setup:
- Windows 11 desktop (wired Ethernet)
- MacBook Air
- iPhone and Android phone
- Residential broadband connection
I test every product over a minimum of 7 days of active use before publishing anything. Speed tests are run at multiple times of day to multiple server locations. Privacy policies are read in full. Support teams are contacted with real questions.
For the complete methodology, read How We Test.
Why Trust Me
Fair question. Here’s my answer:
- I use a real name and a real photo. I stand behind everything I publish.
- I disclose every conflict of interest. Every page with affiliate links has a visible disclosure. I explain exactly how I make money on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
- I publish my methodology. You can read exactly how I test products and decide for yourself whether my approach is rigorous enough.
- I update reviews regularly. A VPN review from 18 months ago might as well be fiction. I re-test and refresh content at least every 6 months.
- I correct mistakes publicly. If I get something wrong, I fix it and add a visible correction notice. See our Editorial Guidelines for the full corrections policy.
